The American Legion rallied support for a vote on bills introduced in both the House and Senate that would amend the U.S. Constitution to allow states to pass laws to protect the U.S. flag from physical desecration.
More than $16,500 in American Legion Emblem Sales discount credits were awarded to Legion posts that participated in the national Flag Rewards Program.
The American Legion was represented at five national education conferences, including three that were attended by nearly 16,000 educators and administrators. In support of the Oratorical Contest, the Americanism Division also participated in the Forensic League's National Tournament with more than 3,200 students and 1,800 teachers and chaperones. The American Legion Baseball program was showcased at the American Baseball Coaches Association convention, attended by nearly 3,500 baseball coaches.
