The National American Legion College in Indianapolis provided leadership training for 52 members in 2011.
A new American Legion Online Extension Institute was developed to provide an electronic leadership- training module for members who wish to hold office in the organization, or simply learn more about it. The new program is expected to debut in early 2012.
The national organization provided department training sessions on the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).
Departments and national officers were provided with numerous forms of training from The American Legion about how best to disseminate the Legion message. Included in 2011 was a new PR toolkit that includes a 110-page booklet, CD and online component for use by volunteer Legion PR officers.
Numerous training sessions at the department level, as well as at national meetings, were conducted by The American Legion to share information about how to best use the membership-management functions of MyLegion.org.
