Training Services

  • The National American Legion College in Indianapolis provided leadership training for 52 members in 2011.
  • A new American Legion Online Extension Institute was developed to provide an electronic leadership- training module for members who wish to hold office in the organization, or simply learn more about it. The new program is expected to debut in early 2012.
  • The national organization provided department training sessions on the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).
  • Departments and national officers were provided with numerous forms of training from The American Legion about how best to disseminate the Legion message. Included in 2011 was a new PR toolkit that includes a 110-page booklet, CD and online component for use by volunteer Legion PR officers.
  • Numerous training sessions at the department level, as well as at national meetings, were conducted by The American Legion to share information about how to best use the membership-management functions of MyLegion.org.
