Legion Baseball regionals begin Aug. 4

From Aug. 4-9, 64 American Legion Baseball teams will compete in their respective division's regional tournaments in hopes of winning their way to the highly anticipated Legion Baseball World Series in Shelby, N.C.

Baseball fans can follow the play-by-play action surrounding the regional games by continually checking the game tracker where scores, stats and more will be posted live. Each regional tournament champion will advance to The American Legion Baseball World Series, which takes place Aug. 12-16 in Shelby at Keeter Stadium. Tickets for the World Series games are currently available for purchase by clicking here. Tickets for the evening Banquet of Champions on Aug. 11 are also on sale for $20.

More importantly, for the first time ever, ESPN3 will be airing the World Series games live. ESPN and the Cleveland County American Legion World Series Committee have agreed to a four-year contract to feature all 15 American Legion Baseball World Series games on the ESPN3 live sports broadband network. The games will be shown online and on mobile devices free of charge. Once World Series games get under way on Aug. 12, viewers will be able to go to www.legion.org to find a direct link to ESPN3.

ESPN3.com is a 24/7 online sports destination currently available in approximately 70 million homes, as well as to nearly 21 million U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel.
