Defending champs start off strong in AL World Series

In front of a live ESPN3 audience, Brooklawn, N.J., scored four runs in the top of the third inning and went on to down Cromwell, Conn., 9-1 in today's opening game of the 2014 American Legion Baseball World Series in Shelby, N.C.

Brooklawn, the 2013 World Series champ, got three RBIs from Tre Todd, and three hits and two RBIs from Fran Kinsey. Starting pitcher Tyler Mondile went six innings, allowing just three hits and one run in helping Brooklawn improve to 50-7.

Kevin Radziewicz had two hits for Cromwell (31-9).
