Randy Owen to headline ALWS 7th Inning Stretch Festival

Randy Owen, lead singer of country rock band Alabama, will headline the 7th Inning Stretch Festival on Aug. 11, in Shelby, N.C., as part of the 2018 American Legion World Series events. The World Series will be held Aug. 16-21.

“When we thank the community for its support of the ALWS with the festival, we want to give everyone something to remember,” says Eddie Holbrook, chairman of the local ALWS committee. “We hope all who attend this event will be as excited about Randy Owen as we are.”

Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook still perform as Alabama but limited their group appearances after their American Farewell Tour in 2002-2003. During its 25-plus years as a band, Alabama claimed 21 straight No. 1 singles (43 in all) and sold 73 million albums. The group has won more than 200 awards from various organizations, making them the most awarded band in country music history. They have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and in 2005, the band was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
