Boys Nation
2008 Session
Welcome to the American Legion Boys Nation 2008 website. Boys Nation is a week-long citizenship and government program in the nation's capital that is designed to instill in each participant a deep loyalty to America while providing practical insight into the operation of the federal government. Participants are high school students who have completed their junior year.

Boys Nation combines lectures, forums and field trips to federal agencies, institutions, memorials and historical sites in and around the Washington, DC area. Actual participation in the political process is highlighted throughout the week's activities to include the organization of party conventions, the introduction and debate on bills and resolutions, and the election of a Boys Nation President and Vice President.

At Boys Nation, each delegate represents his state (Boys State) as a senator in the structure of a mock Senate, which follows the rules and procedures of the United States Senate.

Schedule of the 2008 Session of Boys Nation

The schedule of activities at Boys Nation is always subject to change. Boys Nation is dependent upon the agencies of federal government for field trips and presentations and when world issues change, the ripple affect can reach down to the Boys Nation program. For that reason, when Boys Nation lists a schedule of activities, it is not definite until it actually happens.
