Legion co-sponsors NYC job fair

The American Legion co-sponsored a job fair last week in New York City at the VA Regional Office, in coordination with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Department of Labor, the office of Rep. Bob Turner, R-N.Y., and other organizations. Primarily, the Legion assisted veterans in finding employment in the tri-state area.

Also present at the event were representatives from Helmets to Hardhats, Time-Warner Cable, FDM, Verizon, the Departments of Veterans Affairs and Labor, HBO, Prudential Investments, and many other companies and organizations from the private and public sectors.

The Legion’s Department of New York was also in attendance, assisting veterans with benefits filing and providing a booth for department service officer Dana Verissimo, who assisted about 20 veterans with disability claims.
