Legion hosting small-business forum

The American Legion’s Washington office will serve as the site of the first Veterans Entrepreneurship Task Force (VET-Force) meeting of 2011 on Jan. 11. Attendees will discus ways to increase contracting opportunities for veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses while overcoming challenges to securing government business.

The two-hour session will focus on VA’s Veterans First Contracting Program and its Veteran-Owned Small Business Verification Guidelines,the president’s Interagency Task Force on Veteran Small Business, employers committed to hiring veterans first; the Small Business Jobs Act, VA’s upcoming small business conference in New Orleans and VET-Force legislative priorities for the 112th Congress.

All small business owners, VSO representatives and business groups are invited to attend. The workshop is from 10 a.m.-noon at the Legion office at 1608 K Street, NW, in Washington, D.C.
