  1. The American Flag flies 24-7 over the city offices in Mapleton, Iowa. There is a street light right next to it but the "city" refuses to add a direct light to the flag. It is on their city council agenda but multiple requests to add direct lighting have been turned down many times previously. The current legion commander has reportedly resigned because he does not want to get any more involved. Many people said they would donate to the placing of a light but those in power say the current light suffices. A previous mayor is a veteran & she feels the street light is adequate & evidently the conversation stops there. I sent a letter to the National Commander & to the Iowa commander (his email came back as undeliverable). Any help you can provide would be appreciated. I might add this constant asking for direct light is coming mostly from WWII vets. I am a Vietnam veteran. Thank you & take care
