Deadline set for Samsung scholarship
The Samsung American Legion Scholarship is available to high school juniors who participate in and complete the Boys State or Girls State programs and are direct descendants (or legally adopted children) of wartime veterans eligible for American Legion membership. Students who qualify for and are interested in the Samsung scholarship must submit a completed application to program staff upon their arrival to Boys State or Girls State.
Recipients of the scholarship must use the funds for undergraduate studies (e.g.,room and board, tuition and books), and each applicant is selected according to his or her school and community activities, academic record and financial need. To date, the scholarship has awarded $3,817,500 to 1,380 applicants, making it the largest college scholarship the Legion awards.

The application nor the web site says where to submit this scholarship application

Applications for the Samsung scholarship must be submitted upon arrival to the Boys State or Girls State program.

That depends on the individual Boys State program. Kentucky allows application submission after attending Boys State. The application states "Normally, the application is submitted when you arrive at your respective program."

Are there limitations for the answers to the essay questions? If so, what are they? Can you attach additional text? Do you need to type it on the actual application?

I was told by my son, who just returned home from the Missouri Boys State Session, that his counselors told him to submit the paperwork by mail after returning home from session.
I am unable to locate an address for submitting the application. Can someone please contact me with the information on where to send it?

My son also has returned from MO Boys State and completed the Samsung scholarship application. The MO Boys State letter says the deadline is June 30th. Please contact me as to where we are to send the application.

We were told repeatedly the deadline was June 30 by Boys State counselors and by the written material in the packet sent to us. If this was incorrect, then Boys State should help us fix it.
