Post Administration / Post Officer Training

In looking at the training course offered, I see nothing that tells me the responsibilities and authorities of the various post officers. Where is such information? before volunteering for a post officer position It would be nice to be able to know what that post SHOULD be doing!
The post needs basic administration training and guidelines for normal operation before undertaking any programs. Who handles the IRS reporting etc. Where is that training available?

You can find the responsibilities of post officers in the Officer Handbook that is put out by National. As far as day to day administrative duties such as filling out tax forms and reports, that should be passed on from outgoing officer. We know that often that does not happen. I agree that there should be a training program. Each state is diferent so each state should have training. Does this happen everywhere? NO,not in many states. Hence the challenges that we all have.
