Too cold to ride is relevant to the individual of course, but some years I’m almost relieved and welcome a break from the summer riding fun. Don’t get me wrong, I’m always yearning for one more good ride, but for those of us living in four climates there is also time for one to do a little learning inside when the Hawk is howling outside. Here are a couple of tips that will keep your Karma in tune this winter and keep you ready to ride when it comes time.

How much do you really know about the rules of the road? We are all drivers, be it a motorcycle or a cage, mobility in this society is a must. Just for the hell of it on a off day get out the ol’ computer and go to Nebraska’s Department of Transportation (DOT) website or the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) website and take the drivers’ and riders knowledge practice tests that are available there. Work at them until you pass 100%, this will increase your good Karma on the road and keep you mindful when you’re out there.

Next, enlighten yourself on the full potential of your motorcycle with books and videos. On You-Tube there are comparison videos of your bike with others, there are motorcycle videos on the road, and in the parking lot. There are maintenance videos, and there are riding videos with guys and gals doing things with your bike that you never thought possible. I personally recommend the ‘Ride Like A Pro’ videos. Whatever your choice of motorcycle information input, keep active grasshopper and grow. Your Karma will shine on your next ride and your confidence will show.
