The protagonist Jasper Beamon, serves in the Navy under the first African American Admiral, Admiral Samuel L. Gravely where he rescues Navy SEALS off the coast of Vietnam. Jasper is very much influenced by status, prompting him to join a prestigious fraternity, Omega Psi Phi, and identify himself with an affluent church. He becomes very wealthy, but develops PTSD. 90 Percent: A Memoir of My Demise and Rise is a literary novel sizzling with passion and crackling with humor. It is intertwined with romance, political commentary, history and pop culture.

Jasper struggles to reconcile status and identity with his African American heritage. The book is intertwined with romance, political commentary, history, pop culture and current events as well as a discussion on our current economic crisis. 90 Percent: A Memoir of My Demise and Rise is substantiated by research -- including interviews with Associate Professor of Economics at Howard University, the staff of the Psychiatric Institute of Washington, and several Navy officers as well as the widow of Vice Admiral Samuel L. Gravely, Mrs. Alma Gravely.

90 Percent: A Memoir of My Demise and Rise concludes when Jasper, is a "One Percenter" expects President Obama to relieve him from restlessness, greed and irresponsibility.
