ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO NATIONAL COMMANDER
Membership
This committee consists of such members as the national commander shall appoint, a majority of whom shall be members of the NEC and at least one member from the Finance Commission. The national commander nominates the committee subject to NEC approval. The term of each member shall be co-extensive with that of the national commander who nominated him or until his successor is appointed. The chairman shall be selected by the national commander from among the members of the committee, and the immediate past national commander shall serve as vice chairman.
Purpose
• To act as advisor and counselor to the national commander and all other national officers on matters of policy and activities;
• To study and report on matters referred to it by the national commander, the National Executive Committee, the national adjutant or members of the committee;
• Such other purposes as may be assigned to it by the National Executive Committee.

CITIZENS FLAG ALLIANCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Membership
• The national commander;
• The immediate past national commander;
• The chairmen of the NEC Liaison Committee to the Americanism, Legislative, Media & Communications and Finance commissions;
• The chairmen of the Americanism, Legislative, Media & Communications and Finance commissions;
• Such number of consultants as the national commander may deem necessary and appropriate;
• The national adjutant and national judge advocate as ex-officio members;
• The American Legion Auxiliary in the numbers as deemed necessary.
Purpose
• To aid in the campaign to secure a constitutional amendment empowering Congress to enact legislation to protect the Flag of the United States from physical desecration;
• Such other purposes as may be assigned to it by the National Executive Committee.

VETERANS POLICY OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE (VPOC)
Membership
The national commander is authorized and directed to appoint not more than 10 members and such number of consultants as he shall deem necessary. The chairman shall be the national commander or his designee, and its membership shall include The American Legion Legislative Commission Chairman, National Security Commission Chairman, Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Commission Chairman and Veterans Employment & Education Commission Chairman. The remaining members appointed by the national commander will serve one-year terms.
Purpose
• To review evolving issues in the arena of veterans policy;
• To develop recommendations as to the direction the organization should address;
• To resolve any issues that impact on veterans;
• The national commander may report to the National Executive Committee or the national convention concerning the findings and recommendations of the VPOC whenever deemed necessary;
• Such other purposes as may be assigned to it by the National Executive Committee.

AMERICAN LEGION RIDERS ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO INTERNAL AFFAIRS
The American Legion Riders Advisory Committee to the Internal Affairs Commission is appointed each year by the national commander to represent The American Legion Rider community on all matters referred to the Internal Affairs Commission regarding The American Legion Riders. The Internal Affairs Commission reviews their recommendations and in turn makes recommendations to the National Executive Committee or delegates at national conventions on resolutions submitted from the various departments on policy matters related to The American Legion Riders. Basically, they are Riders from across the country reviewing policy matters and making recommendations within the established governance structure of The American Legion. They also review and make recommendations to the Internal Affairs Commission on the conduct of the annual Legacy Run to the national convention. Committee members also serve as regional sources of information, advice and guidance for departments and posts interested in forming American Legion Rider programs of their own.
