VA Secretary Eric Shinseki, DoD Deputy Secretary William J. Lynne III and members of Congress address American Legion members attending the 50th Washington Conference Tuesday morning at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington D.C. Video of the Commander's Call session of the conference will be streamed live on www.legion.org from 8:30 a.m. until approximately 11:30 a.m.

2010 Washington Conference

American Legion National Commander Clarence Hill will call the session to order, followed by speeches from Deputy Defense Secretary Lynne; Rep. John Boozman, R-Ark., a member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee; Secretary Shinseki; Assistant Secretary of Veterans Employment and Training Services Ray Jefferson; American Legion Auxiliary President Rita Navarrete; Sons of The American Legion National Commander Mark Arneson; and Rep. Jim Marshall, D-Ga.

Rep. C.W. "Bill" Young, R-Fla., a member of the House Appropriations Committee, will receive The American Legion's Distinguished Public Service Award during the session.

I am wondering since some of the Native Americans are trust land holders, what grants,incentives such as business grants, education grants,and health care grants are made available other than Corbel decision. What about HR 1701 grants for setting up a lake with sailing for all with electric boats(duffy boats M160) on a nearby lake with the Tribe's honored veteran name.

I'm Post Service Officer Vincent Ruiz for Post 154 Boqueron, Puerto Rico and I agree with Commander David of Post 127 Glendale CA. We should be able to train either online in the Legion site or some kind of correspondenc cource to become better equiped with information for our fellow Veterans.
