Kansas Post 68: Staying busy all year

I am the commander of Lysle Rischel Post 68 in Hutchinson, Kan., for the fourth year in a row, and I am very proud of all that our post does. We serve our members weekly by offering a pizza night on Wednesday’s, hamburger night on Thursday’s and a lunch on Saturday’s. We also have a steak night on the first Saturday of each month and a chicken night on the third Saturday of each month. We have bingo every Tuesday and Friday evening to make money for our post. We serve a Thanksgiving day lunch for our members for a suggested donation, and we serve Christmas dinners to two different National Guard units every year. We have a very active Legion Riders group, as well as our Sons of The American Legion and Auxiliary units. We sponsor a Boy Scout unit and support Boys State as well as offering five scholarships to our local community college.

Hutchinson is the third largest post in the state, and I believe it to be the most active.
