Missouri Post 1214 creates military women scarecrows

The 22nd annual Cider Days on Historic Walnut Street Arts & Crafts Festival in Springfield, Mo., attracts nearly 10,000 visitors each year. Last month during the festival, American Legion Women Veterans Of Southwest Missouri Post 1214 provided an entry into Scarecrow Village for the first time. The entry, which was limited to four scarecrows, depicted women veterans from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines with an American flag backdrop and painted pumpkins representing each branch of service.

Post 1214 is the second largest of the five all-female Legion posts in the state of Missouri.
