The American Legion Auxiliary recently donated $10,000 to The American Legion Veterans and Children Foundation, and $2,500 to the Child Welfare Foundation. National Auxiliary President Nicole Clapp made the check presentation to The American Legion in a video message in effort to practice social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As states begin to slowly re-open from the shutdown that was put in place due to the coronavirus, American Legion Family members continue to assist their communities through the pandemic. They are distributing food; holding food drives; feeding families, first responders and frontline workers; participating in birthday parades for veterans; staging outdoor concerts and words of appreciation to veterans at a VA hospital; and so much more. Texas American Legion Boys State completed its 2020 program by going virtual in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally scheduled to meet on the University of Texas campus June 6-12, the pandemic shut down the university and prompted Texas Boys State leadership to consider an online session. Outside of not having to cancel Texas Boys State 2020 completely, there were unexpected benefits from the virtual session.
