Will your department be the top fundraiser?

Will your department be the top fundraiser?

Last month I announced that the Department of California is challenging all American Legion departments to a contest throughout July – the 100 Miles for Hope Breakout Challenge. Each department in The American Legion has been placed in a category of similar-sized departments (see below for details). The department in each category that raises the most money for the Veterans & Children Foundation (V&CF) via Kilter and the purchase of 100 Miles for Hope merchandise through Emblem Sales during the month of July is deemed the winner.

What does the winner receive besides bragging rights and a plaque? The great feeling that donations to V&CF ensure our network of 3,000 accredited American Legion service officers help veterans and their families receive the benefits they’ve earned through their service, and that military families with young children who have fallen upon financial hard times can receive a Temporary Financial Assistance grant.

If you haven’t already started the breakout challenge, find your department category and follow the instructions at  legion.org/100miles
