


Survivors from Command Outpost Keating in Afghanistan lost all their personal items, including comfort items that brought some respite from the war. Burnpit readers – along with contributions from Target Corp. and Computer Science Corp. - donated more than $100,000 to provide comfort items for the soldiers.

“All scholarships are nice, but it’s the military connection that makes The American Legion Legacy Scholarship so different,” said Joseph McVey. “It’s because of all the work that’s been put into raising money by men and women who share a military experience. It comes from people who have shared the same experiences as my dad.””
