Minnesota GI Bill:
The Minnesota G.I. Bill program is a new program in 2007 established to provide postsecondary educational assistance to eligible Minnesota veterans who served on or after September 11, 2001. Full-time undergraduate or graduate students may be eligible receive up to $1,000 per semester and part-time students can receive up to $500 per semester.
Eligibility: You must be a Minnesota resident enrolled at Minnesota institutions who is a: veteran serving or has served honorably in any branch of the United States armed forces at any time on or after September 11, 2001, or;
Non-veteran who has served honorably for a total of five years or more cumulatively as a member of the Minnesota National Guard or any other active or reserve component of the United States armed forces, and any part of that service occurred on or after September 11, 2001, or;
Surviving spouse or children of a person who has served in the military at any time on or after September 11, 2001, and who has died or has a total and permanent disability as a direct result of that military service.
Aid for Active Duty Military Personnel Stationed in Minnesota:
According to State law, members of the United States Armed Forces on active federal military service stationed in Minnesota and their spouses and dependents are considered Minnesota residents and therefore eligible to participate in the Minnesota State Grant and other Minnesota financial aid programs provided they meet the other program eligibility guidelines. You may be eligible for additional benefits from your branch of military service.
Minnesota National Guard Tuition and
A portion of tuition and textbooks is reimbursed directly to the soldier upon satisfactory completion of the coursework. Receive up to 80% of the tuition and textbook cost at any VA approved school. Maximum benefit is 80% of the per credit rate at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Campus.б University of Minnesota = $50.00/75.00 per quarter/semester credit б State Universities = $34.00/51.00 per quarter/semester credit б Community Colleges = $28.00/42.00 per quarter/semester creditб Technical Colleges = $ 28.00/42.00 per quarter/semester credit б Schools reporting in clock hours = $1.35 per clock hour.
