At Post #7 in Buckhannon, WV we are working hard at both retention of our current members and getting members from the WV Department of the American Legion Post #200 to transfer to our post. Post #7 has a lot to offer veterans who want to be active with our Children and Youth and our Americanism programs and special projects. We are proud of our accomplishments of getting a course curriculum of "Patriotism" to be taught within all public schools of West Virginia. It took time and persistence and a lot of work between our local legislatures who supported us and the WV State Board of Education. We have confirmed with the Superintendant of Upshur County Schools that it has been included in this year's curriculum. Our goal is get have all posts/districts throughout West Virginia to follow our lead. We hope this will give the younger generation of Veterans within our community incentive to join with us here at Post #7 in Buckhannon West Virginia. We also have an Memorandum Of Understanding with the VA Counselors for those veterans with PTSD. We offer our post home as a meeting place two times per month all veterans who need this service. Post #7 of Buckhannon strives to work within all four pillars of the American Legion.
