Embassy room dedicated

A dedication ceremony was held at the Lisbon U.S. Embassy Heritage Room on Dec. 12, 2014, conducted by Gunnery Sgt. Aaron Smith. The Heritage Room was dedicated to Lance Cpl. Joaquima Vaz Rebelo, who was killed in action in Vietnam and received the Silver Star for valor.
The U.S. Ambassador to Portugal (John A. Sherman of Massachusetts) was present for the ceremony, along with Maria De Jesus (Rebelo’s cousin) and Stephen A. Ward (Legion Department of France vice commander). Also present at the ceremony was Portugal Post PO01 Adjutant Gilbert Wells, a World War II Veteran.
