My entire life, up until his death in March of 1990, I can remember my Dad's voice, "CQ, CQ, CQ, this is W8HIN, Alaska, Michigan, CQ, CQ, CQ, is there anybody on tonight?" Dad had both a home base and a mobile in his car. It was fun and interesting for the whole family. My Dad's call sign license plate hangs prominently in my garage today, where I can see it as I enter or leave.
I am so pleased to learn that The American Legion has an Amateur Radio Club. Not only are "Hams" a great way to talk to people all over the world, they are also our last line of communication in disasters and emergencies. Thanks for this continued service!
