N3TAL Vet Net Gets long Distance Checkin

On Wednesday April 10, 2013 participants in the Washington D.C. Metro Area "Vet Net" hosted by American Legion Post 275 (N3TAL) in Glenarden, Maryland recieved an unxpected treat. Comrade James Floyd (K6JMF), a memeber of Post 10 in Angeles City the Philippines, checkedin via an Echolink connection provided by Murray Green (K3BEQ). Comrade Floyd, a Navy veteran, currently resides in Mabalacat, the Philippines. His participation was the highlight of the evenings net, with other hams getting reports on the weather (HOT, in the 90's) and the time differential, + 12 hours( it was Thursday morning in Angeles City).
The Metro Area Vet Net is held each Wednesday at 19:30 hours EDT courtesy of the Green Mountain Repeater Association on their K3GMR repeater at 147.610 mHz.
