California post ham club helps Scouts connect

On Saturday, Oct., the Palm Springs American Legion Post 519 Amateur Radio Club (K6TAL) hosted the Boy Scouts of America in participating in the annual Jamboree On the Air (JOTA).

One 7-year-old Scout communicated "solo" on HF radio to Scouts in New York, Georgia, Arizona and numerous other Scout venues (K2BSA) across the country, as his mom looked on. Timid? I think not!

JOTA is the world's largest Scouting event. All in all the event was a fantastic success, with nothing but positive feedback from parents, Scoutmasters and the Scouts themselves.

Band conditions were very cooperative, particularly on 20 meters.
