The 42 residents at Herbert Grigg Home for the aged will sleep comfortably because of the generous donation of pillows and pillow protectors given by members of the Enrique Romero Nieves American Legion Post 102 in December.
Gen. George S. Patton's 3rd Army liberated the city of Pilzen, Czech Republic, in the spring of 1945. During the 60th-anniversary commemoration, the city elected to remember Patton with a foundation stone. But the statue of Patton was canceled by the city of Pilzen because the builder, Jaroslav Bocker, had collaborated with Communist secret police during the Cold War.
The American Legion is thriving in the Department of Puerto Rico. A number of posts conduct events, help the community, and provide companionship and remembrance for one another and those who came before.
