Build a safe zone in Syria for the refugees to stay in. They'll be much happier in their own country. If the allied countries do this together, it will be cheaper than bringing them to the US and other counties.

Great idea!

Great idea. The Moslem based people can't seem to accept the laws or practices of any country they are relocated in

You are painting every Muslim with the same brush. That can't be done any more than saying all whites belong to the KKK, or all the Baptists belong to churches that believe as the Westboro Baptist Church does, in my opinion.

Tom. There are 1.5 + billion Muslims in the World and only "15% hate us". Do the math my friend!

Let me get this straight. Obama said we should close GITMO because it is the biggest recruiting tool for Muslims to join Isis. GITMO is the most luxurious prison in the world. The prisoners there are treated better than our American prisoners, our American seniors and our American veterans. Now he says the biggest recruiting tool is that most Americans don't want to let the Muslim refugees come into the USA. Meanwhile the other Muslim countries don't want them or the Palestinians but it is okay for them not to take them. Personally, I think their biggest recruiting tool is that the USA has a wimpy leader and they are winning this terrorist war. The president also says that only 2% of the refugees are males of combat age. In Paris last week, 8 terrorist killed or injured 479 civilians. That averages out to be 59.88 victims per terrorist. If we let in 10,000 refugees and 2% are terrorists that is a potential of 200 terrorists. If we get 200 terrorist and they inflict similar terrorism on the USA, then 200 times 59.88 casualties per terrorist equals 11,976 American casualties. The president and his minions say that the refugees will be adequately vetted by our security people. It takes the government of the USA over a year to qualify a wounded military veteran to get his/her veteran benefits. The military keeps the most extensive personnel records of any part of the government while the Syrian refugees have ZERO personnel records that we can obtain from the Syrian government so it is LOGICAL that the refugees cannot be vetted so we all are at risk if he brings them in. Others on this thread have made the case that Muslim immigrants don't assimilate into the American population. In fact, it is AGAINST THEIR RELIGION to assimilate. ISLAM requires that they take over and change our government to SHARIA law. We can't convert them but their religion requires that they convert (or kill) us They are not happy or satisfied in their country and will not be happy or satisfied in any other country into which they immigrate. I propose that we "save" the Muslim refugees from their Muslim liberators (ISIS) and assist them in re-taking control of their own Muslim countries) where they can remain and have their Sharia law. They will be happier, we won't have to borrow money from China to bring them here and America will be a lot safer. I read the entire Koran, the entire bible and the two books that Obama claims that he wrote.

I agree completely. It will keep the refugees in their homelands. Other nations can help support this initiative and it will protect us as a nation.

We need to take care of our own first. We shouldn't be paying benefits to illegal aliens or refugees until all homeless Vets are provided for and our elderly are taken care of. There wasn't even enough money to give a cost of living raise to Vets and Social Security recipients, how in the hell did Obama get the money to take care of outsiders? It is estimated the cost to care for each refugee will be $260,000.00 over the next five years! That's over a million dollars for a family of four! And it is all taxpayer money that we don't have. That is just wrong.....

Submitted by Skip Adams (not verified) : Nov 19, 2015 3:47pm

I agree with Skip Adams, we must take care of those Senior Americans, who are someone's parents, American citizens who desperately need help, Veterans who are homeless and/or need help, and pay back Social Security the funds taken to support other programs. We have a need within our borders to help Americans, and this should be out top priority going forward. For many years we have responded to every little "crisis" around the globe but not within our borders. And we have a crisis within!!

Agee with Mike 88, but would add that it enhances the security of the USA and our allies. This would make the choice that "The U.S. should work with countries on returning the refugees to Syria.", more viable.

Submitted by Pepere (not verified) : Nov 19, 2015 3:56pm

I agree with Mike H 88 and with Skip. We (along with all the other affected countries) should set up an enclave within Syria (or Iraq) with controlled entry and exit and defined boundaries. Let them then set up their own government and take care of themselves.

let them go fight for their own country. Why arent muslim countries taking them in ? this is just a ploy to infiltrate Christian countries with muslims. they breed like flies and want to take over Christian countries. A lot of us don't want them here

I am reminded of what Roosevelt said about lending a hose instead of selling it, but I don't know if this fire can be put out. Still the right thing would be to try put out the fire so they can go home. So the question is, have we lost the ability to put out fires? Or is it just the desire?

The US should work with Moslem countries, European countries, as well as Russia to establish a safe haven in Syria [including a no fly zone] for persons fleeing the violence, as well as providing aid to establish housing, medical and educational services, counseling services, and to assist in establishing a governmental framework among the residents. A multi-national ground force should protect the residents. Russian may now be more willing to focus on ISIS and to work with other nations to create such a safe haven. Care must be taken to monitor against the safe zone becoming a base to radicalize the residents.

Submitted by Martin Schugam (not verified) : Nov 19, 2015 4:44pm

One has to wonder why these refugees are flowing into Europe and not into other Islamic countries. Oil rich countries of the Gulf States should be embracing people that share their ideology. It is distressing to see so many women and children murdered and enslaved. Why are so many refugees able bodied males? More than half of the refugees entering Europe are from places other than Syria.

All healthy military age, healthy men should be drafted into a new Syrian army, trained by our allies to take out not only isis but the murderous Assad regime . My understanding is that the vast majority of these refugees are young men. Why didn' they volunteer when they were recruited by allied forces to join the resistance forces we tried to put together, because they are Sunnis who have been killed by Assad. The plan to rid the people of this tyrant, has to be included with taking Isis out.
I am concerned that many of these young men are angry and desperate, and as a result vulnerable to wrong influenzes. We should do our own vetting, but better yet, no fly zone in Syria to establish training camps to get these young men ready to defend their own country.

Had the line in the sand been upheld and enforced this question probably would not have been necessary! The condition causing the refuge flight would not exist. Let the Arab countries who have allowed and condoned the present state of affairs, be responsible for the problem and deal with the terrorist vacuum that was formed. The problem is not ours! This cowardly and inept administration has once again placed this country at risk, this time on our soil. The Political actions of this administrations constant attempt to justify their failures over the last seven (7) years borders on treason!

Why can't we use the system, which was used for Vietnamese refugees. The were put on Guam to prepare for entering the USA. Then they spent months at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas to prepare for clearance of refugee status. Apparently there was a process. Why don't the powers in Washington use a similar system, before they are
cleared for entry into the general population of the United States

Syrian Christians face genocide by staying in Syria. The number of Christian Syrian/Irag refugees far exceeds what the US suggests taking in. Also, seems like a great deal of our US resources are being already used by illegals - 2 problems could be solved together - at less cost.

The Marshall plan after WWII befriended the German people and turned them into a strong ally.
Tossing bombs into a foreign country is going to upset a population. I don't think you need to have been in a war zone to realize a family with children would not want to stay in a situation like the one we helped create there. If the US is going to disrupt a population it needs to take responsibility for what we have done. Casting these people aside will only make it easier for them to find comfort in the arms of an aggressor which our children will have to fear from in 10-15 years. Every dollar we spend on them today could save us thousands in return tomorrow. The US pissed Billions of $ away in Iraq this would be low cost compared to that.

Those Syria men are capable of staying and fighting for there own country, they look to be in great shape. If the situation was reversed we would stay and for the USA to the last man. Look at the French under ground they fought with what they had and disrupted the Germans.

Our leaders can't truly help our own population, how do they expect to help others. One could guess that those leaders in Washington DC are getting kickbacks for opening the door. There are already big problems here at home, adding fuel to the fire doesn't help anyone, not even those that are getting paid off to let it happen. Oh I hate to think that way, but they sure give me cause to.

With a debt of 20 Trillion dollars, the U.S. cannot afford to house, feed, or supply medical needs to refugees from ANY country. We continue to live under the false premise that we can help every body else in the world. We cannot. ISIS has proven, through their attack on Paris, that they can simply walk into a country using false passports and phony identification papers. This makes us extremely vulnerable to an attack. Many American people are caught up in their own daily lives, plus their children's daily lives, and they pay little attention to the rest of the world around them. They rely on, and believe, the leftist propaganda that is spewed from the alphabet media on a daily basis, and the horrifying reality is, they actually believe the drivel they see and hear on the news channels. They believe these refugees are poor persecuted people that must be taken in and helped. No doubt, some are poor and persecuted, but there are those who would use the refugee excuse to attack and kill or maim as many of us as they can in the name of a phony religious belief. America is in dire straights with politicians who are doing their best to tear away our Constitutional rights and privileges. They are desperately trying to remove our right to use our guns to protect our homes and families against the same murdering rag heads who attacked Paris France. If we do not stop the influx of refugees into America, we will suffer for it. Food and jobs will be given to them instead of Americans because they will be willing to work for less. Money for businesses will be handed to these refugees so they can build a life for themselves in the land of the "free"! And what will happen to those of us who have shed our blood for this country to keep it free? Servitude? Starvation? Slavery? NO! Keep the Refugees OUT. We don't need the problems they will bring, and we don't want them taking America away from Americans.

The other Muslim countries (Saudi Arabia, Iran) in the middle east should be taking in refugees from Syria.

Any that are allowed in should immediately be taken to a state or federal prison where they can be cared for until they can return to Syria. Absolutely no military aged makes should be allowed on American soil.

America is a nation of refugees and immigrants. One of our foundations is freedom to practice any religion. As a parent I desperately want to say keep them out. As a Christian I battle with the belief that we are to love all people as Christ would, and to also be wise as a serpent innocent as a dove...I think letting people indiscriminately into our country, in a day and age where weapons of mass destruction are too readily available is not wise. I do think that we should help those who are unable to help themselves, and those should be able to be vetted...this is the information age after all. My concern is that in a time when we cannot take care of our veterans and seniors why we would think we could and should help foreign people beyond giving them a corner of land to squat on, or helping them militarily defend a corner of their own country. The american pocketbook ran out trillions of dollars ago, and we cant keep writing checks we dont have money to pay.

Lets face it, young to middle age men, who should be fighting for their country are running away, why? Are they trying to enter countries for the wrong purposes, like to begin terrorist acts upon the incent citizens of the country who opened their borders to them. Those men should be sent back to their country of origin.

The US has no business in the affairs of other sovereign nations and their domestic issues. This "crisis", like so many before, is not a US or world crisis. If I freely leave this country, no matter what the reasons, and make no formal request for asylum then the results rest upon my shoulders.
We have plenty of domestic crises that warrant our immediate attention and assisting those foreigners before assisting our own is flat wrong. We did not charge into the USSR to end the "cleansing" there and the same goes for Communist China. Millions of innocents were killed and we had the good sense to deplore the actions from within our own borders.
There are nations in the area with more than enough financial resources to assist Muslims/Islamics, et al. Let them step up to the plate for once and do what they should have been doing all along. We cannot afford the cost of helping, either monetarily or socio-politically.
You can't save everyone and saving is God's job. I let him run the Universe and focus on my little piece of that. It works wonders for me.
