Hoping for a STRONG showing from the Veterans Party of America and their appearance on ballots-------the choice between Democrat or Republican candidates is much like the choice between the window or aisle seat in a plane crash

Submitted by mikedv733 : Jan 28, 2016 2:07pm

LoL - I think a lot of us are tired of these two parties butting heads, and feeling as if we're throwing away our vote if use it for any other party.

OTHER ANSWER: Politics and endorsing, supporting, or affiliating with any particular candidate or party is forbidden in the American Legion's bylaws, so it shouldn't be discussed on an official American Legion forum.

Submitted by JAF (not verified) : Jan 28, 2016 3:41pm

I think this question is quite safe as far as the bylaws are concerned.

Submitted by ARG (not verified) : Jan 28, 2016 5:08pm

I agree!

Submitted by Lenny piskac (not verified) : Jan 28, 2016 11:27pm

I agree, the American Legion policy is to be apolitical regarding a specific candidate while in uniform or specifically speaking as a part of the organization, but there is nothing that says we can not hold opinions and to vote our conscience-----THAT is what the system is all about and what we were all given an oath that we swore to defend against ALL enemies foreign or domestic!!

It is supposedly forbidden to discuss any particular candidate or party in a AL function, meeting, or setting. What the heck is this then? Is this forum not on the AL website? Sure we can have are own opinions, but politics is supposed to be kept out of AL activities. To pose this question contradicts the AL's bylaws whether you agree or not, because it is generating discussion on political candidates and parties.

Submitted by JAF (not verified) : Jan 29, 2016 10:32am

I disagree. This forum is on the official American Legion website. The "question" is meant to generate discussion on candidates and parties, which would not be allowed in a AL meeting. Technically. But I am finding that this organization is somewhat hypocritical in its policy on supporting political agenda.

Perhaps you missed the guidance put out by National Commander Dale Barnett less than 48 hours ago basically stating that specific endorsement of a particular candidate while is uniform or representing the American Legion was out of bounds , but to stress and encourage voting at all levels and especially amoung veterans was the goal

You all sound like a bunch of ambulance chasing, slimy, nit picking, lawyers The ones who love to distort the obvious truth of anything that is said. That's what politicians do and why my country is in such a mess.
It was a simple question and you sit here and get way the fuck off topic.

I'm not by reading the above sure we're on the same page but for me I'm
sick & tired of electing career politicians. I voted for Ross Perot because he was a successful business man to run our country & I still think this country is a business & should be run by proven businessman
who can keep better track of where all the nickles & dimes go & who they
go to. You know who I believe can do that job.

When someone runs who hasn't been bought and paid for by some billionaire who cannot understand what normal people's lives are like, then I will support them fully. Now it's the lesser of two evils once again.

Voting the lesser evil is like choosing between holding the gun to the right temple or the left temple before pulling the trigger.

Waiting for a candidate who does less talk and is honest, not make promises he knows he has no chance of getting approved, guessed are out of luck, all of them are snake oil salesmen with their own selves to care about

I'm an Independent, and I'm waiting to see who the final candidates are. Then I'll consider whom to vote for.

Submitted by M : Jan 28, 2016 11:35pm

Let's just wait, and see who the parties nominate as their candidate. I am independent, so I do not vote blindly for a Democrat, Republican or whatever. I would like to see what the policies of each individual candidate are before casting my vote.

Anyone but sanders or Hillary. To bad Jim Webb dropped out.

Submitted by Don A. (not verified) : Jan 29, 2016 9:28am

It's sad scary that Hillary and Trump are the most popular candidates. In a country this size, that's all we could come up with? You know that with Hillary we will have more of the same BS, Trump knows what needs done, he just has that moose mouth. I will never vote for Hillary or Sanders. I'm upset that Trump is leading the conservatives.

PAY ATTENTION HERE !
The question was basically are you, or have you, made up your mind on who gets your vote. The political crap concerning the actual candidates has nothing to do with the question at all. STAY ON TOPIC !

Submitted by Fred C. (not verified) : Jan 29, 2016 1:18pm

Maybe the creators of this forum should someday pose a question that actually relates to Veteran and Military issues instead of drumming up right wing conservative political views.

Submitted by DP (not verified) : Jan 29, 2016 2:29pm

Holy shit, get a life. The question is basically::::
Did you make up your mind on who you are voting for.
If you carried it further than that, so be it. They are opinions, not that of the Legion for GOD'S sake...
Again "GET A LIFE"

Every time I read this one poll there are so many cry baby's. if you don't like the questions or answers don't read it just stop crying please. Go to another poll, One that is politely correct because that is what seems to float your boat. Don.A

The primaries are the most important elections. If they don't result in at least one good candidate, then the only choice is to vote for the lesser of two evils. As a registered Independent, my vote will go to the candidate who favors a smaller, less expensive, less intrusive government. Hillary and Bernie say they went a bigger government, so I guess in the General election I'll be voting for the lesser of two evils again.

If you are an elected official and running for president you are NOT doing the job the voters are paying you to do it is double dipping save your present job in case you lose. I personally would prefer some one who is a business person to run the country and get us out of the red
