Legion to testify on Capitol Hill

The American Legion will testify at one congressional hearing next week on Capitol Hill and submit written testimony for two others.

Davy Leghorn, assistant director of the Legion’s Veterans Employment & Education Division, will testify at a March 19 hearing by the House Small Business Subcommittee on Contracting and Workforce. Topics will include reverse auctions, verification and the Small Business Administration’s role in rulemaking.

The Legion will submit testimony for the record at two other sessions: a March 17 hearing on higher education opportunities for Post-9/11 veterans by the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity; and a March 19 hearing on pending legislation by the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight & Investigations.

The House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs will hold a hearing on improving transparency at the Department of Veterans Affairs, at 7:30 p.m. on March 16. Witnesses include VA’s general counsel, Leigh Bradley, and Maureen Regan, counselor to VA’s inspector general.
