Small post, big agendas

We are a small post (Florida Post 385), we do not even have a building, and yet we support a Boy Scout Troop (224), we have two scholarships, sponsor shooting sports, Oratorical and Boys State, and promote Americanism at four schools via support of JROTC (medals and ribbons), and the School Award Medal Program.

We also support Fort Lauderdale Naval Sea Cadets Spruance Division, Pembroke Pines-Miramar Civil Air Patrol Squadron, Coral Springs Civil Air Patrol Squadron, Crystal Lakes Civil Air Patrol Squadron, and the Boca Raton Civil Air Patrol Squadron with the American Legion Americanism Medals.

We participate in Four Chaplains and Wreaths Across America annually and march in the Orange Blossom Parade in Davie, Fla. In 2011, we held a 5K run to help raise funds for our post activities. In short, we are a little post with a big agenda.

We started our Legion Centennial website and hope to keep adding to it in the coming weeks. Visit http://centennial.legion.org/florida/post385?p=about
