John Adolph Schulz

John Adolph Schulz, 81, of Lake Norden, S.D. died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Lake Norden.

John Adolph Schulz was born May 13, 1932, on a farm near Bruce, S.D., to Adolph and Hazel (Atwood) Schulz.

John graduated from Bruce High School, entered the U.S. Navy on April 15, 1952 and actively served until 1956. He married Rosemary Miller on July 20, 1957. After a short stint of farming near Aurora, he moved his family to Denver. He returned to Brookings, S.D. in 1965, where he was self-employed and known as "Mr. Recycle." He entered the Golden Living Center in November 2008. His wife passed away Dec. 25, 2009.

He is survived by two daughters, Perri (Arnold) Anderson of Arlington, S.D., and Laurie Schulz of Castlewood, S.D.; two sisters Evelyn (Edward) Peet of Chadwick, Ill., and Dorothy Skovlund of Bruce; and several nieces, nephews, their spouses, children and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife of 52 years Rosemary, son John Charles Ross, daughter Cynthia Louise, and brother David Calvin Schulz.

Memorial services were held at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Chapel in Brookings with interment in the Elmwood Cemetery in Bruce.
