My dad was a proud Navy veteran who passed away on Jan. 1, 2014. He served aboard a submarine tender, USS Fulton AS11, as an Electricians Mate 2nd Class from July 1943 until discharged in May 1946. As a member of The American Legion for more than 65 years, being a member of the color guard during Memorial Day and at many other funerals was very important to my father. Also while in the Navy, he played trombone in the ship's band. He always had a smile, and helped many people. He was thought highly of by all who met him. He will be missed dearly.
