BOSSIER CITY, La. - Gordon L. Maciver, 84, passed away at his home in Bossier City on April 8, 2014. Born April 4, 1930 in Detroit and raised in Isle of Lewis, Scotland, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Joan S. Maciver. He is survived by son Neil Maciver; daughter Christine Maciver Graessle and her husband, Steve; daughter Mary Tellez; daughter Moira Maciver and grandchildren Gage, Kelsey and Emalyn. Maciver is also survived by sister Sheila Doan of Canada, brother-in-law Sandy Connell of Canada, and sister-in-law Mary Macdonald of Scotland.

Maciver was a resident of Bossier City for over 40 years. In 1956, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of master sergeant before retiring in 1976. During his distinguished military career, he received many honors, including the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Purple Heart. Following his military retirement, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 12 years, retiring in 1992.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1944 Airline Dr. in Bossier City, with Reverend Dan Hignight officiating. A Christian burial followed at Hill Crest Memorial Park in Haughton.
