Michael A., 98, on June 25, 2014, of River Edge. Beloved husband of the late Helen (1982). Devoted father of MaryAnn Marcello, Michael Molinaro and his wife Lois, and Matthew Molinaro. Dear brother of Stanley of Dumont, and Rocco of Dumont. Adored grandfather of William, Allison, Matthew, Amanda and Christopher. and great-grandfather of William and Matthew. Mike was a life member of American Legion Post 170 in Rochelle Park, a life member of DAV Chapter 15 in Bergenfield, a life member of VFW Post 192 in Ho-Ho-Kus, a member of Msgr. Burke Knights of Columbus Trinity Council, and a member of St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church since 1952. Michael Molinaro served overseas with the 1st, 9th and 3rd Armies in Ardennes; Normandy; Northern France; Rhineland; Central Europe; Belgium; and Czechoslovakia from October 1943 through November 1945. He was part of the Normandy invasion on D-Day and the Battle of the Buldge. As a World War II combat medic, PFC Molinaro took care of the wounded and administered first aid under fire while unarmed, in the 83rd Infantry and 8th Armored Division, and was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart with cluster; Army Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, European African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with five bronze battle stars, Germany Occupation Medal, Combat Medic Badge, French Liberty Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button ("Ruptured Duck") and the N.J. Distinguished Service Medal. Funeral Mass will be on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St Peter The Apostle Church, also in River Edge. In lieu of floral tributes donations are respectfully requested to either Veterans Haven, North 200 Sanatorium Rd, Suite 101, Glen Gardner, NJ 08826; or Gilda's Club (envelopes will be provided at funeral home).
