August D. "Gus", 90, of Emerson, N.J. passed away suddenly on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014. Gus was born in NYC to John and Angelina Cademartori. Beloved husband of 68 years to Anne Masone Cademartori. Devoted father of Roseanne Cademartori Lorenc of Chestnut Ridge, N.Y., and Kathryn Cademartori Gisonde and her husband James of Blackstone, Mass. Dear brother of Dominick Cademartori and the late John and Gerry Cademartori. Loving grandfather of Jamie Gisonde Carmichael and husband Brian, Robert C. Lorenc and fiancée Elizabeth Kaye, and Matthew August Gisonde and wife Kristina.
Gus was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy in the Pacific. He graduated from Princeton University with degrees in naval science and economics. He had two successful careers. The first was at Stern Brothers, where he rose to the position of Vice President of Personnel and Labor Relations. The second was as Vice President of Labor Relations and Human Resources for the Saint Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital Center. It was while he was working for Stern that he moved his family from NYC to Emerson in 1957 to open the Bergen Mall.
Gus was a parishioner of RC Church of the Assumption where he was a Eucharistic Minister and served on the Pastoral Council. He was an active member of the Emerson Senior Citizens, serving as its president for three terms. He also served on the Emerson Board of Education for six years and was a member of the American Legion post in Rochelle Park. At the time of his death Gus was serving as a trustee on the Committee Advisory Board for the Bergen Regional Medical Center in Paramus and was a member of the Bergen County Coordinating Council for Seniors. He was also President of the Class of 1947 of Princeton University. The Funeral Mass celebrating Gus' life and faith was held at RC Church of the Assumption, 29 Jefferson Avenue, Emerson, N.J., on Sept. 23. Entombment was at the Garden of Memories, Washington Township, N.J.
