Martin P. Beers Jr.

Martin P. Beers Jr., 86, of Pen Argyl, died Tuesday, Oct. 14 in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill.
He was the husband of Annabel (Borger) Beers.
Born in Kunkletown, he was a son of the late Martin Beers Sr. and the late Myrtle (Libengood) Beers.
He had worked as a coach cleaner for the Reading Railroad in Bethlehem, Pa.
Martin served for seven years in the U.S. Army, in Military Police and Intelligence and Reconnaissance. He was a member of American Legion Post 724 in Wind Gap.
He was a great sportsman. He loved hunting, fishing and dogs.
Martin was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Wind Gap.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David; a daughter, Donna; and a granddaughter, Shayla.
Memorial services were held at on Friday, Oct. 17, from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, with Rev. Suzanne Brooks-Cope officiating. Interment with full military honors in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Kunkletown.
