Francis Jay "Fran" Lovell (1925 - 2014)
Lovell, Francis Jay, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 23, 2014. He was born on Oct. 6, 1925. in Pittsburg, Kan., to Cloral and Ruth Aiman Lovell. He graduated from Manhattan High School in 1944 and from Kansas State University in 1950 with a BS in business administration. Fran served in the Navy during World War II as a signalman 3rd class on the USS Catron transport ship in the Pacific. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty McClung, on June 2, 1946, celebrating 64 years together before her death in 2010. Fran was a supervisor for loan companies in Missouri, Illinois, South Carolina and Kansas. He had resided in Wichita since 1973. Fran retired in 1990 following 15 years as a VP and loan officer at Central Bank & Trust. He and Betty traveled extensively in their retirement. Fran loved his Central Christian Church family of 41 years, where he served as an elder, greeter and member of the Encouragers Class. He served on the board of directors of Riverside Hospital and had been active in the Wichita Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Lions Club. Fran will be remembered for his love for Jesus, his huge heart for others, his jokes, songs, poems and his love for K-State - Every Man a Wildcat! He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, his wife Betty, and a son, Randy Lovell, in 1960. He is survived by son Larry Lovell, San Pedro, Calif.; daughter Patty (Bill) Rogenmoser, Topeka, Kan.; grandchildren: Andrew Lovell, Encinitas, Calif.; Robin Lovell, Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; Kelly Rogenmoser, Wichita; David Rogenmoser, Annapolis, Md.; and Michael Rogenmoser, Manhattan, Kan.: and several nieces and nephews. Visitation Oct. 3 at Broadway Mortuary. Funeral services Oct. 4 at Central Christian Church. Interment will occur at a later date in Manhattan. Fran's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Sedgwick Plaza and the nurses and staff at Progressive Hospice for their excellent care.
