SPARTA - Harold French Jarger, 90, of Sparta, formerly of Rochelle Park, passed away peacefully at his grandson's farm surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015.
Harold was born to the late John and Kate (Baran) Jarger; cherished husband of 63 years to Helen (Korotky); beloved father of Charmaine Finck and her partner, Bill Greenlaw, of Sparta; Wayne Jarger and his wife, Erinn (Fitzpatrick), of Cumming, Ga.; and Kyle Jarger and his wife, Faith (Zameret), of Stow, Mass. Loving grandfather of Jared Finck, Corey Finck and his partner, Sarah Berman, Katie Jarger, and Sophie and Tess Jarger. Harold is also survived by his sister-in- law, Gloria, and Mary Jarger, many loving nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends Ward and Louise Huey. He is predeceased by his brothers John and Jerome Jarger.
Harold graduated from Clifton High School and received his Bachelor of Science from Newark College of Engineering. Before retiring, Harold employed his talents for ITT and LNR communications. He was a visionary and accomplished engineer with several patents in satellite communications. Harold was a past coach for the Rochelle Park Razorbacks youth football team and an avid New York Giants fan. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Rochelle Park and a United States Marine who served during World War II.
Family received friends on Monday, Jan. 5, at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Paramus. Funeral service at Vander Plaat Memorial Home, followed by Funeral Mass at the Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Rochelle Park.
