Michael T., Sr., 83, of Paramus, passed away on Jan. 4, 2015. He is finally able to see God and to walk with the angels in heaven.
Mike was born on May 8, 1931, in New York to Miro and Lucy Pavin. He was raised in West New York and graduated from Memorial High School. Mike received a basketball scholarship to St. John's University.
Mike was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served our country proudly during the Korean War.
Mike was one of a kind; he was the most gentle, loving man who opened up his heart to all and was loved by all. Mike enjoyed time with family, especially at the Jersey Shore. He loved being a family man and was very proud of his accomplishments, like moving his family to Paramus 49 years ago. Mike loved to dance and listen to music. He was a lifelong NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. Before retiring he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a supervisor of mail and delivery in Saddle River. Mike was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and served as a Paramus pool commissioner for many years.
Cherished husband of 56 years to Marie (nee Werner), who he called "Irish." Loving father to Michele Hulahan and her husband Michael, Marissa Hulahan and her husband Danny, and Michael Pavin, Jr. and his fiancée Tresa Candelmo. Beloved grandfather "Poppy" to Kelly, Scott, Christopher and Nicole. Dear brother of the late Anne Spinello and the late Thomas Pavin Sr. Mike will be missed by many nieces and nephews. He was fortunate to be blessed by many lifelong friends ("314 Club").
Family received friends on Jan. 8-9 at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Paramus. Funeral service on Jan. 10, followed by Funeral Mass at the Our Lady of the Visitation R.C. Church, Paramus. Interment at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
