Guy A. Sibley

Guy Alan Sibley, 90, residing at the Randolph Manor, formerly of Cattaraugus, passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Olean General Hospital.
He was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Napoli, N.Y., son of the late Alan L. and Dorothy (Fisher) Sibley. On Aug. 14, 1943, he married the former Jane Evers, who predeceased him in 2009.
After graduating from Little Valley High School in 1941, he began working at Curtiss-Wright Corporation in Buffalo. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945 as a gunnery instructor. After World War II he joined his father and brother at A.L. Sibley Motors in Little Valley. As a hobby, he began raising mink in 1948. This became a full-time business called Sibley Fur Farm which he operated until he retired in 1985.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Little Valley, until its closing in 2011. He was also a member of the Little Valley American Legion, Little Valley Senior Citizens, and looked forward to playing euchre. In retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with his wife of 65 years.
He is survived by two sons, Craig (Maryanne) Sibley of Gowanda and Dennis (Jane) Sibley of Salamanca; four grandchildren, Bret Sibley of Las Vegas; Heather (Shawn) Ferro of Lakeview, N.Y.; Jill (Brian) Blake of Amherst, N.Y.; and Jared Sibley of Fredonia, N.Y.; and five great-grandchildren, Daniella Sibley, Weston and Polly Ferro, and Madelyn and Sydney Blake. He was predeceased by a brother, Ray Sibley, and a sister, Mary Swartz.
Visitation on Dec. 12-13, funeral service to follow. Rev. William Novack of St. Paul Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial in Little Valley Rural Cemetery.
