Johnny Lionel Berry

Johnny Lionel Berry Sr., 67, passed from this world Friday Feb. 6, 2015. Johnny was born in small-town east Texas in Hempstead on Jan. 28, 1948. He has resided in North Carolina for the last 36 years.
Johnny Berry served in the U.S. Army from June 8, 1970 until May 29, 1973. Though his military career was short, he was very proud to have served and proud of the man the service helped him become. His achievements include a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, M16 Sharpshooter, and completing courses in both Basic Leadership and Area Intelligence Specialist. His tenure included foreign service in Germany in 1972.
He received his bachelor’s degree in agricultural science and a master’s degree in entomology from East Texas State University and Oklahoma State. Duly educated, he used that knowledge to work at Syngenta Corp (formerly Novartis and Ciba-Geigy) in various sales and administrate capacities for over 30 years until his retirement in November 2009.
He is preceded in death by mother Dorothy and father Perry Berry Sr.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife Debra, and his two sons Johnny Jr. and Jason. Siblings include Perry Berry Jr., Reva Berry and Timothy Berry of East and West Texas.
