Robert Thomas Smith, resident of Myrtle Beach, S.C., passed away on Feb. 4, 2015. at 83. Bob was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., to parents Clarence Smith and Cecilia Roach. He was the youngest of five children after siblings James, Catherine, Clarence and Harrold. Bob is survived by his wife, Connie, whom he wed in 2004, and his daughter, Regan Smith, of Arizona. He was a proud United States Marine and served his country honorably during the Korean War. Following his military service, Bob earned a degree in accounting and his career brought him west, first to Las Vegas and later to Arizona. This path led him to the Union Hills Country Club in Arizona, where he served as financial controller until he retired to Myrtle Beach. He was a member of American Legion Post 134 in Cave Creek, Ariz., and a member of American Legion Post 196 in Myrtle Beach. His simple joys included the New York Yankees, music, reading, poker, pinochle and a stiff drink with good friends. He was a character and did most things his way, as he blazed his own trail through life. Bob was a beloved father and husband with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
