Ackley G. Carter

Ackley G. Carter, 86, of Lake Wales, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at Savannah Court due to complications of dementia.
He was born July 24, 1928, in Englewood, N.J., to the late Leslie and Grace (Cox) Carter and has been a resident of the area since 1999, moving here from New Jersey. He began his career as a housewares buyer in New Jersey, then started his own company in Madrid, Spain, called 'Interberia' and was there for 22 years. He was a member of The American Legion and Masonic Lodge. He was a paratrooper serving in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed being outdoors and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet L. Carter, in 2011.
Survivors include his son, Steve Carter and wife Lisa of Winter Haven; and one grandson, Spencer.
