Herman C. Schlie

Herman C.Schlie, 84, of Morristown, Minn., passed away peacefully at his home on March 17,2015. He was born on July 14,1930, in Janesville, Minn. He proudly served his country in the Korean War and returned home wounded (lost right eye) with a Purple Heart for his courage. He was a member of Post 149, Morristown, for 63 years, and held various positions throughout his continuous years of service. He was a very active member of the 40&8 club,and was constantly looking for candidates to receive scholarships for the Nurses Training Program that they sponsored.
He was preceded in death by daughter Dawn in 1979, and his beloved wife Thelma in 2008. He is survived by six children and spouses, 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts! His favorite quote was, "Old soldiers never die ...they just fade away."
