Elwood E. Whipple

Elwood E. Whipple, 88, of Williamsport, made his journey with the Lord on Nov. 27, 2014, with his daughter Robin and son-in-law Tom at his side in his home.
Born Jan. 20, 1926, in Williamsport, he was a son of Chester and Annabelle (Sunderland) Whipple. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Inez R. Whipple on July 27, 2012, a grandson Timothy Davis, five brothers Eugene, Max, Clifford, Sr., Carl and Richard Whipple, and a half-sister Dorothy Krietz.
He graduated from Williamsport High School and served in U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from AVCO as a machinery repairman supervisor after 33 years.
Elwood was a member of Masonic Lodge #397, where he was Worshipful Master in 1965. He loved hunting and was a member of AVCO Hunting Club and Brandy Run Club. He enjoyed fishing, especially in Chincoteague, Va., with his wife. He was a lifelong member of the former Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Surviving are a daughter Robin (Tom) Banzhaf of Williamsport, two grandchildren, Thomas Davis and Tammy Selleck, 12 great-grandchildren: Samantha, Tyler and Trent Davis, Ashley Snyder, Johnny Jr., Tim, and Alyssa Brown, Jackie and Tim Engel, Dylan Lesnick, Bryana Barger and Tylar Shannon, 8 great-grandchildren: Kiara Riles, Donald Riles Jr., Lyasha Drummond, Jordan Brown, Isaiah Keller, Gabriel Engel, Maverick Rolon and Averie Badman; and his African Gray Parrot Birdie who always wanted to be beside him and talk to him.
His daughter and suggests memorial contributions in Elwood’s name be made to Susquehanna Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd. Williamsport, PA 17701.
