In Memory of Jim Murray
Jim was born on Epiphany, 6 January 1926, Enid, Okla., and died on Father's Day, 21 June 2015, Arlington, Texas. He was the first son of Bertha Anna Rath and Buford A. Murray. B.J. married Marca Lee McInnes 24 November 1954. They made their first home in Independence, Kan., where Jim was an engineer for Sinclair Pipeline. This is where their children were born: Marilea Amelia Murray Hickman and William James "Jim" Murray. Jim was a Mason and a Shriner.
Jim graduated from Taft High School, Taft, Texas. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Battle of the Bulge during World War II he returned to Texas A&M, College Station, and graduated as a civil engineer in 1950.
Jim and his young family moved to Carrollton, Mo. Jim was the district engineer. B.J. became active in Girl and Boy Scouts. He represented Carrollton Girl Scouts at the Winding River Council in Kansas City, Mo. He was a committee man in Carrollton Boy Scouts, part of Heart of America in Kansas City. He went to Boy Scout camp at Camp Roe Bartlet several times, where he was inducted into the Mic-O-Say Tribe.
He continued his interest in Scouting in Morris, Ill., where he was assistant supervisor for what had become ARCO. He attended Scout camp with the boys and was accepted into Order of the Arrow at camp Rainbow Reservation.
The Murray family moved to Kilgore, Texas. Jim was assistant district supervisor. B.J. was finally transferred to Arlington, where he became Arlington district manager for what had become British Petroleum. This was their last move. Jim and Marca Lee became members of New World Methodist Church. They attended the 1252nd Engineer Combat Battalion reunions, and made his second and third trips to Europe.
Jim is survived by his wife, their daughter and son in-law, Marilea and Winn Hickman; their daughter in-law, Sondra Murray; five grandchildren: Marshall Hickman, Marlea Hickman, Anna Murray, Jay Murray and Claire Murray; his brother and sister in-law, Doug and Patti Murray; a nephew and wife, Bruce and Pam Haley; two nieces and husbands, Mitzie Murray and Russell Gibson and Carrie Lee Murray and Jay Dee Shedd; the widow of his brother in-law, the Rev. William Dale McInnes, Alleen McInnes Nolan; Bill and Alleen's children, the Rev. Martha McInnes and her husband, the Rev. David Dean, Alan McInnes and his wife, Barbara McInnes. Jim and Marca Lee have four grandnieces, Hannah McInnes-Dean, Amelia McInnes-Dean, Lydia McInnes and Bailey McInnes.
Besides his parents, his son, Jim Murray, and his sister, JoAnn Murray Haley, his brother in-law, the Rev. William Dale McInnes, preceded him in death.
