Forrest L. Jones

Forrest was born in Hamlin, Kan., in 1923 and died in Sioux Falls, S.D., on May 22, 2015. He served in the U.S. Marines in World War II, then was discharged after the war. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1948 and was active there until January 1967. His last duty assignment was in Sioux Falls, as an Army recruiter. During his Army enlistment he served in the Korean War, in Fort Leavenworth, in Fort Riley, in Patch Barracks, Germany, as adviser to the Guard in Rapid City, in Fort Carson and in Sioux Falls. He lost his first wife in l954 and remarried in l957. He was father to nine children, grandfather to 23 and great-grandfather to 20. He enjoyed years of singing in the Singing Legionnaires and Quartet in Sioux Falls.
