William Edward Cox

William Edward "Bill" Cox passed away of heart disease at his home in Waelder, Texas. He was born in Wachula, Columbia County, Fla. At the age of 17 he joined the Air Force. He attended the Naval Language School in Monterrey, Calif., to learn the Thai language. He served one tour in Vietnam, and then took a special-duty assignment as an independent medic under the Thailand National Health Ministry. His next tour took him to Albuquerque, N.M. Bill retired with 21 years of service in the Air Force. He then attended the University of Minnesota and obtained a bachelor’s degree in forest resource management and a master’s degree from the University of California Berkeley as a silviculturist. His greatest joy was working in the El Dorado National Forest out of Georgetown, Calif., over the next 15 years. A commissioned wildlife print was dedicated at the University of Minnesota Forestry Department in Bill’s name. Bill was also a member of the Sacramento, Georgia and Florida Sons of the American Revolution organization. He was responsible for locating and restoring the Ancestral Moses Cox Cemetery.
