Edward Joseph, 93, of Rochelle Park, passed away Monday, Oct. 19, 2015. Born in Garfield, he lived in Lodi before moving to Rochelle Park 40 years ago. He was an assembly machinist for Sun Chemical Company in Rutherford for over 35 years, retiring in 1984. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in WWII aboard USS Iowa, and earned the Philippine Liberation Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Asiatic-Pacific Medal with 8 Bronze Stars, and American Theater Victory Medal. He was a member of Rochelle Park American Legion Post 170 and a member of the Veterans Association of the USS Iowa. Edward was a parishioner of Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Rochelle Park and a former parishioner of Holy Rosary R.C. Church in Passaic. Edward was the beloved husband of the late Jane B. (nee Sudol), devoted father of Gerald E. Gronek, and his wife Nancy, of Hillsdale, and Marlene Kennedy of Gulf Shore, Ala., loving grandfather of five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, dear brother of Florence Saczawa of Mahwah, and the late Joseph, George and Bruno Gronek, Julia Rocco and Helen Gronek.
